Our Vision We want people to achieve a healthy and happy life so that they can thrive in the place they call home. This is fundamental to what we do and is the passion behind our work. It is a matter of social justice that people are born intoand live in a place which is conducive to achieving a healthy and happy life. But that’s not always simple Read our Strategic Plan Within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area we experience worse health outcomes than the NI average. We are committed to harnessing the great assets available by working together with all of our partners to tackle the factors which cause ill health and build resilience within our communities. What is our focus for the next three years? DHC celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022. Our organisation has made great strides since its inception in 1992, leading on many innovative projects and supporting our partners in delivery of important health and wellbeing programmes. We will build on our existing strengths and work to identify opportunities to pioneer new ways of working to enhance health and wellbeing in its widest sense. This strategy does not change the core of what we do in terms of strategic leadership, programme delivery, health education and training, community capacity building, or partnership and advocacy, but it does strengthen our focus in key areas which we believe will be critical in the short and medium term. Those key areas are: Investing in relationships with friends and partners in the community and statutory sectors to continue delivering collaborative actions that improve health Investing in actions that support sustainability and the environment to provide the Clean air, green open spaces and access to healthy food that are fundamental to reduction of the risk of many chronic diseases Investing in research and data to enable informed decision-making and early detection for emerging health issues Manage Cookie Preferences
